Mission

The reality that our Team of Ambassadors has experienced is everyday life in Kenya’s rural areas: poverty, shortage of healthcare structures, very poor sanitary conditions, high infant mortality rate, and famines are only a few of the problems that afflict the population in the Chaaria region and the neighbouring province of Meru. In these conditions, everyday life is hard for an unimpaired person, and becomes extremely hard for those who suffer from illness or, for example, hearing loss.
It is well known that prevention and treatment of hearing loss are crucial steps to restore hearing capabilities, thus improving a person’s life. But if there is a lack of equipment/instruments, trained personnel and the economic strength to obtain proper equipment, what can be done? ReSound For Africa’s First Mission, in association with World Medical Aid, got started with the awareness that we cannot find a way out of the harsh conditions we operated in, but at ReSound For Africa we believe in the commitment our Team of Ambassadors showed during our first mission.
From 20 to 25 September 2018, our First Mission, mainly involving hearing healthcare professionals, furnished two audiology rooms and a room for hearing-aid fitting. The turnout was very high: over 150 patients were examined, and 50 of them were fitted with ReSound hearing aids. This mission was not only about donation but also and mainly about training local personnel.
